Be Confident

Image result for to be confident BE CONFIDENT

The focus for the week after spring vacation is Be Confident. The dictionary definition of to be confident is to be self assured or having a feeling or belief that you can do something well, have the ability to succeed or feeling certain about something. Synonyms may include to be positive, assertive, and poised. Being confident is a key to being successful in all areas school and life. There are many ways to show confidence in school. Students can share a presentation that they have practiced to feel good about doing it. Students can study and prepare for a test so that they feel confident about taking it. Students can think positively and sometimes even dressing nicely helps one feel empowered or confident. Students often look to their parents to see how to be confident and then can mirror them. Certainly, we can encourage our children to be confident. To this day my daughter remembers her grandfather telling her that she needs to be confident when she needed to try out for a play. Just that encouragement alone helped her to feel able to take the risk!

When we asked students students what it means to be confident they shared:
•To be proud
•Trust yourself and think you can do it
•Believe in yourself
•You feel good about yourself and you don't doubt what you can do
•Persevering through hard times no matter what
•You have a smile on your face- you are not down

Our Home Link for Be Confident will be sent home on Tuesday, April 3rd. We hope that you will find time to complete the Home Link and have a terrific conversation with your children of what it feels like to be confident.

Be Creative

Image result for be creative         Next week our words are Be Creative.  The dictionary defines being creative as solving a problem in a new way, changing your perspective, taking risks and doing something different. We have very creative students at Windsor and they challenge themselves to be creative in many areas of school.  It truly is amazing to see how thoughtful and creative our students can be. We see their creativity also in our STEAM activities worked on in their classrooms or the LMC like coding. Additionally, our teachers are creative as they work so hard to make sure our students have opportunities each day to demonstrate ways to be creative.

When we asked our students what it meant to be creative, they shared:
*It means making something unique
*It means designing different things
*It means being artistic or musical
*It means figuring out new ideas
*It means drawing
*It means looking at things in a different way

We hope you will take the time to do the Home Link which will come home on Monday.

Be Happy

Image result for Be HappyNext week our focus is to BE HAPPY!  The definition to be happy includes: to feel contentment or feel pleasure, to be joyful, to be satisfied and to feel cheerful and satisfied!  Our Wildcats are seen as joyful and happy throughout our school day. We are fortunate that we feel a sense of pride as we see them grow and be happy. The kind things that they do for each other make them feel happy and seeing Random Acts of Kindness demonstrated makes up happy, too.

When we asked students what is means to be or feel happy they shared:
•When others are polite
•When I do something nice all by myself
•When you do something for your mom or dad
•When someone gives you a hug
•When I lose a tooth
•When someone shares their toys

Whether they hold the door for another, play with someone sitting alone, help each other or walk a friend to the office, it is great to see our student helping others feel happy! When they ask if we need any help, make us cards or tell us what they learned, it just makes each of us so happy.  We hope that you will take part in next week's Home Link and talk with your child about what makes them happy!  It will go home on Monday.
