The First Two Days at Windsor 2014-15

It feels like we have never left. The students are right back into work mode! The kindergarteners have some very nice student skills. It seems to us that the students were looking forward to coming back to school and we just love that positivity!  We started out yesterday with an assembly for all of the students. We shared our expectations, a video of a young man who displays persistence even though he may fail and a video of our staff.  The students loved seeing their teachers in the movie!
Our kindergartners went on a "hunt" for a lost raccoon and in the process they learned where all the important places are located at Windsor.

At our assembly students learned what we Do at Windsor:
We greet others and say hello.
We respond to any adult in the school.
We treat all others kindly and help if we can.
We follow the school rules and expectations!
We honor the WILDCAT WAY.
We also shared what we DON'T do at Windsor:

We DON’T make fun of others.
We DON’T purposefully make others feel bad.
We DON’T call each other names.
We DON’T act like bullies.

We spoke about the need to make mistakes in order to learn and grow. We talked about being able to take risks in school and the need to try, try, try again. We talked about this poster. We talked about being inclusive with all the students in our school and being respectful of our diverse cultures.

We hope you will watch this video as it demonstrates all of what we are looking for in our students:
creativity, hypothesizing, persisting, joy, failure and success.  We are simply delighted to be back in the work of educating your children. Thanks for trusting and supporting each of us at Windsor. Enjoy!

Welcome to this New and Improved Blog for the 2014-15 School Year!

What is new? Both Ms. Hiltz and Mrs. Fabrizio will be posting to this one blog. What does this mean for you? This means that you only have to check one blog to learn all about the Windsor Happenings! We are so excited to be sharing our thoughts with you and hope to do so more than once a week. Watch for pictures of your students, activities, etc.  See you so very soon. Class placement letters will go out on Monday, August 18th. We are unable to share class placement information with you via the telephone, so please check your mail! Also, students who do not have full registration completed will not receive a class placement, so please bring in any outstanding paperwork to the office as soon as possible! We can't wait for another great Wildcat year!
